Medical Office Assistant Course Diploma Program British Columbia

This is a 12-week program that covers all aspects of medical office assistant administration. The instruction occurs either online or at our on-site Langley campus, with a practicum component done at various medical and clinical settings. Our experienced instructors are aware of the latest developments within the industry, including technological, social, and economical advancements. The diploma gained from this program enables students to begin an exciting new career in the medical office assistant field. The program has been approved by the registrar and the cost of the program is $5400.

 Medical Reception College places emphasis on the importance of practical medical office assistant training in addition to theory in the classroom. There is a significant amount of role-playing to prepare the student for any unexpected situations that can arise when working in the field. In the last few weeks of the program, the students work in doctor’s offices on a volunteer basis to further enhance the skills they have learned in the program.

We are not limited to the topics listed above. Medical Reception College Ltd places emphasis on the importance of practical medical office assistant training in addition to theory in the classroom.   1. Elaboration on real-life situations and scenarios occurring in a wide variety of health care settings and occupations, based on first hand experience of the instructors.

  2. Discussions of new knowledge acquired from various seminars attended by the instructors.

  3. Discussions of information obtained during conferences. For example, many of the inside details and information regarding the doctor’s office, and the employer’s expectations for their employees is received during these conferences throughout dinner conversations with various doctors and health professionals. This opportunity to speak one-on-one with these health professionals allows our instructors to share details with our students to give them a realistic description for what is required of them, and what their employers are looking for in hiring a new receptionist.

 

As part of our Medical Office Assistant Program, you will complete your practicum Working in a Professional Medical Environment. Many of our graduates get job placement right after they graduate.

 

Evaluation Methods

 

Overall mark based on successful result on weekly quizzes and final exam (which occurs on the last day of classes). Required practicum hours completed with a satisfactory result. Participation and attendance in class.

 

Diploma

 

Students who have completed all specified requirements, as well as fulfilling the practicum portion of the program will receive a diploma from Medical Reception College Ltd. Upon receiving the diploma, students are able to pursue a career in the medical services profession with confidence.

 

Duration

 

The program duration spans 12 weeks, and is offered on a full-time basis, classes run full time Monday and Wednesday from 9:00am to 3:00pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00am to 2:30pm.

 

 

Admission Standards 

 

Students must meet the following criteria. 

1. The student has graduated from Grade 12. 

Plus, all the following: 

2. Successful result on a typing test administered by school administration 15 WPM

 

Mature Admission:        

 

Students must meet the following criteria. 

1. The student has matured student status (is 19 or older before the start of classes.

2. Successful result on a typing test administered by school administration 15 WPM 

3. Successful result on an aptitude test administered by the school (50%) 

All students must have the following: 

· Submission of a negative TB skin test.  If the skin test is positive, proof of a negative TB chest x-ray is required. 

· All students must complete a criminal record check prior to practicum placement. 

If  the School Administrator and the prospective student agree on a  financial arrangement, they sign the contract. All students should  obtain a copy of the signed contract, along with a copy of all student  policies to the student. (Program admission requirements may not be  waived by the Institution).

Practicum Placement

 We arrange a schedule for our students to do their practicum at various medical-related offices in order to gain valuable work experience, this helps students build the credentials they need to pursue employment opportunities in a field that is constantly growing and full of job opportunities.

Admission criteria
Students must meet the following criteria:

 

  1. No high school diploma needed

  2. It’s required to bring your high school transcripts if you have any to your registration appointment.

  3. If you have not completed High School in Canada you will be required to do an English multiple-choice entrance exam. A minimum score of 50% or more is required to take the program.

The  Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced  Education administers the Private Training Act and associated  regulations. PTIB is responsible for: Ensuring institutions meet the  requirements and standards for certification, maintaining a Private  Training Institution Directory of all certified institutions and the  programs they provide, along with formerly certified institutions and  providing student protection and overseeing the Student Tuition  Protection Fund.

Refund Policy

1. If Medical Reception College receives tuition from the student, or a person on behalf of the student, the institution will refund the student, or the person who paid on behalf of the student, the tuition that was paid in relation to the Medical Office Assistant Program in which the student is enrolled if:

a. the institution receives a notice of withdrawal from the student no later than seven days after the effective contract date and before the contract start date; b. the student, or the student’s parent or legal guardian, signs the student enrolment contract seven days or less before the contract start date and the institution receives a notice of withdrawal from the student between the date the student, or the student’s parent or legal guardian, signed the student enrolment contract and the contract start date; or c. the student does not attend a work experience component and the institution does not provide all of the hours of instruction of the work experience component within 30 days of the contract end date.

2. Medical Reception College will refund the tuition for the Medical Office Assistant Program and all related fees paid by the student or a person on behalf of the student enrolled in the program if the student is enrolled in the program without having met the admission requirements and did not misrepresent his or her knowledge or skills when applying for admission.3.If a student does not attend any of the first 30% of the hours of instruction to be provided during the contract term, Medical Reception College may retain up to 50% of the tuition paid under the student enrolment contract unless the program is provided solely through distance education.

4.Unless the Medical Office Assistant Program is provided solely through distance education, if Medical Reception College receives a notice of withdrawal from a student:

a. more than seven days after the effective contract date and i. at least 30 days before the contract start date, the institution may retain up to 10% of the tuition due under the student enrolment contract, to a maximum of $1,000.ii.less than 30 days before the contract start date, the institution may retain up to 20% of the tuition due under the student enrolment contract, to a maximum of $1,300.

b. after the contract start date

i. and up to and including 10% of the hours of instruction to be provided during the contract term have been provided, the institution may retain up to 30% of the tuition due under the student enrolment contract. ii .and after 10% but before 30% of the hours of instruction to be provided during the contract term have been provided, the institution may retain up to 50% of the tuition due under the student enrolment contract.

5.Unless the Medical Office Assistant Program is provided solely through distance education, if Medical Reception College provides a notice of dismissal to a student and the date the institution delivers the notice to the student is:

a. equal to or before 10% of the hours of instruction to be provided during the contract term have been provided, the institution may retain up to 30% of the tuition due under the student enrolment contract.

b. after 10% but before 30% of the hours of instruction to be provided during the contract term have been provided, the institution may retain up to 50% of the tuition due under the student enrolment contract.

6.If Medical Reception College provides the Medical Office Assistant Program solely through distance education and the institution receives a student’s notice of withdrawal or the institution delivers a notice of dismissal to the student and:

a. the student has completed and received an evaluation of his or her performance for up to 30% of the hours of instruction to be provided during the contract term, the institution may retain up to 30% of the tuition due under the student enrolment contract, or b. the student has completed and received an evaluation of his or her performance for more than 30% but less than 50% of the program, the institution may retain up to 50% of the tuition due under the student enrolment contract.

7.Medical Reception College will refund fees charged for course materials paid for but not received if the student provides a notice of withdrawal to the institution or the institution provides a notice of dismissal to the student.

8.Refunds required under this policy will be paid to the student, or a person who paid the tuition or fees on behalf of the student, within 30 days:

a. of the date Medical Reception College receives a student’s notice of withdrawal,

b. of the date Medical Reception College provides a notice of dismissal to the student,

c. of the date that the registrar provides notice to Medical Reception College that the institution is not complying with section 1(c) or 2 of this policy, or d. after the first 30% of the hours of instruction if section 3 of this policy applies.

9.If an international student delivers a copy of a refusal of a study permit to Medical Reception College, sections 1(a), 1(b), 4, 7, and 8 of this policy apply as if the copy of the refusal were a notice of withdrawal, unless:

a. the international student requests an additional letter of acceptance for the same program that was the subject of the refusal of a study permit, b. or the Medical Office Assistant program is provided solely through distance education
